New Notice(9-18-2009):
2010-2011 License Renewal: All licensed addiction counselors practicing in North Dakota must renew their license by December 31, 2009. The completed
renewal application, $200 renewal fee and continuing education verification must be returned to the Board office and postmarked on or before December 1, 2009. A late charge of $100 will be assessed if the completed renewal application and renewal license fee or two-year continuing education documentation are postmarked after the December 1, 2009 deadline and before January 31, 2010. You are required to submit the completed renewal form, $200 fee and have 40 hours recorded by December 31, 2009 to avoid expiration of the license. It is against the law to practice addiction counseling without a current license.
GRACE PERIOD: All non-renewed licenses expire December 31, 2009. You may not legally practice addiction counseling if your license expires. There is a 30-day grace period after December 31, 2009 ending January 31, 2010. The completed renewal, renewal fee, late fee, and continuing education must be postmarked on or before January 31, 2010 to renew your license. After January 31, 2010, your license can no longer be renewed and you will need to submit an initial application and meet all current license requirements.
REGISTERED PRIVATE PRACTITIONERS: Renewal of the private practice registration is no longer required.
REGISTERED CLINICAL SUPERVISORS:- All registered clinical supervisors are required to submit 10 hours of clinical supervision continuing education. This is included in your current 40-hour continuing education requirement. The deadlines for renewing your clinical supervision registration are the same as for renewing your license. There is no late charge for not renewing your clinical supervision registration on time, but the status will expire December 31, 2009. Your license still can be renewed if you do not have the clinical supervision hours.
For upcoming continuing education opportunities or to obtain a renewal form or Individual CE Attendance Form, go to the Continuing Education page. The Individual CE Attendance form is not required if you have a certificate of attendance. You may then submit a copy of the certificate.
If you have any questions regarding your renewal or your continuing education hours, please contact the Board office at ndbace@aptnd.com or 701-255-1439.
