All persons practicing addiction counseling in
the state of North Dakota must be licensed with the North Dakota Board of
Addiction Counseling Examiners. The requirements for licensure in North
Dakota are as follows:
- Bachelor's Degree in Addiction Studies or a
closely related field (example: criminal justice, nursing, pharmacy,
occupational therapy, biology) including 32 credit hours
in addiction studies.
- 9-month, full-time training clinical
training program - 1400
hours
- Written Examination
- Oral Examination
License by Reciprocity Applicants: If currently
licensed or certified in another jurisdiction, and wish to apply for license
by reciprocity, submit the following:
- Verification from the licensing authority in
another jurisdiction that you are currently licensed and in good standing
- Application for Licensure
- Licensure fee
- A copy of the law and rules from the
jurisdiction in which you are licensed which establishes the requirements
for obtaining and maintaining a license in that jurisdiction
