LICENSE RENEWAL: Renewal notices for Licensed Addiction Counselors were mailed in early September 2011. All addiction counseling license expire 12/31/2011 unless renewed! The completed renewal application, $200 renewal fee, and continuing education verification must be returned to the Board office and postmarked on or before December 1, 2011. A late charge of $100 will be assessed if the completed renewal application, renewal license fee and/or two-year continuing education documentation are postmarked after the December 1, 2011 deadline and before January 31, 2012. You are required to submit the completed renewal form, $200 fee, and have 40 hours recorded by December 31, 2011 to avoid expiration of the license.

2012-2013 Application for Renewal

Individual CE Attendance Form – The Individual CE Attendance form is not required if you have a certificate of attendance to submit.

The following contact hour amounts must be recorded in the Board office before December 1, 2011 for renewal of your license:                

                      Initial License issued prior to 12/31/2010                              40 hours

       Initial License issued between 1/1/2011 & 6/30/2011         20 hours

       Initial License issued after 6/30/2011                                       0 hours           

GRACE PERIOD: All non-renewed licenses expire December 31, 2011. You may not legally practice addiction counseling if your license expires. There is a 30-day grace period after December 31, 2011 ending January 31, 2012. The completed renewal, renewal fee, late fee, and continuing education must be postmarked on or before January 31, 2012 to renew your license. After January 31, 2012, your license can no longer be renewed and you will need to submit an initial application and meet all current license requirements.

REGISTERED PRIVATE PRACTITIONERS - Renewal of the private practice registration is no longer required.

REGISTERED CLINICAL SUPERVISORS - All registered clinical supervisors are required to submit 10 hours of clinical supervision continuing education. This is included in your current 40-hour continuing education requirement. The deadlines for renewing your clinical supervision registration are the same as for renewing your license. There is no late charge for not renewing your clinical supervision registration on time, but the status will expire December 31, 2011. Your license still can be renewed if you do not have the clinical supervision hours.

 Notice:  If you reside inside or outside of the state of North Dakota and wish to practice via the internet in North Dakota, you must be licensed by the North Dakota Board of Addiction Counseling Examiners.

 Change of Address:  The board requires that you submit your change of address in writing or email ndbace@aptnd.com.

 Notice:  If your license certificate has been lost or damaged you may contact the board office in writing to request a duplicate certificate at no charge.
