Training Continuing Education

Following completion of required academic coursework, clinical training is required through an NDBACE approved consortium or an individualized training plan hosted by a ND agency. Individualized training plans must be designed and supervised by a board approved training program. Board approval is required for all individualized training plans before the trainee can start.

Clinical Training requirements

LAC:

• A minimum of 960 hours of clinical training
• 40 hours of direct, face-to-face supervision in each of the following clinical training areas (screening and ASAM assessment, treatment planning, counseling, and client/family/community education.)
• 30 hours of training in the area of documentation, which must include the supervisor reviewing and discussing clinical notes with the supervisee.

LMAC:

• A minimum of 700 hours of clinical training
• 30 hours of direct, face-to-face supervision in each of the following clinical training areas (screening and ASAM assessment, treatment planning, counseling, and client/family/community education.
• 20 hours of training in the area of documentation, which must include the supervisor reviewing and discussing clinical notes with the supervisee.

ND licensed LPCC, LP, MD, LMFT, LICSW, or advanced clinical practice nurse:

• 350 hours of clinical training
