In-State Internships

An individual who has completed their clinical training requirements as an addiction counselor but fails to meet the licensure requirements of the state of North Dakota can register as an Intern. The intern status allows applicants to complete missing requirements while being employed. An applicant can remain in intern status for up to 12 months. An additional 12-month extension can be granted through Board approval.

To register for an internship, the completed form below must be attached to the applicant’s Clinical Training Completion Form.

Out-of-State Internships

An individual may register as an intern in North Dakota if licensed in a different jurisdiction as an addiction counselor, but they fail to meet the licensure requirements of the state of North Dakota. The intern status allows applicants to complete missing requirements while being employed under intern status.

The Internship Registration form must be attached to your LAC or LMAC licensure application.
